... We had a fabulous time visiting the House of Commons and then the House of Lords. It was our first ever visit to Westminster. We found out some really interesting facts, here are a few of them:
The Queen is not allowed to enter the House of Commons (the Green Room).

The Queen’s throne in the House of Lords is actually made out of wood ( but painted with gold paint).

On or around the anniversary of the gun powder plot, the cellars down below the parliament building are checked.

We learnt how and where MPs vote.

It was an excellent day and we enjoyed working with other schools.

The Bishop of Southwark officially opened our new school in Angell Town by unveiling a plaque and an original artwork set outside the school's main entrance.

The afternoon was a chance to tour the school and see St John's pupil's dancing and singing. Dignitaries, including Baronness Floella Benjamin and local MP, Helen Hayes, wished the school every success for the future and were very impressed by the new building and the children.

The community garden, near the school, was blessed by the Bishop of Southwark before he opened the school at the main entrance. The children planted flowers in the plant pots in the entrance area.

There was a high tea for all after the official opening.
